Miners stand trial in Mold for attacking their manager after their wages are lowered. A crowd has assembled to hear the verdict – will they get a fair hearing? Stones will be thrown and blood will be shed but will anyone find justice?
One of Wales’ forgotten dark days is brought to life in this large-scale promenade show through the streets of Mold with a cast of 100.
Haf, 1869.
Mae achos llys yn Yr Wyddgrug yn erbyn glöwyr sy’n cael eu cyhuddo o ymosod ar eu rheolwr ar ôl iddo dorri eu cyflogau. Mae torf wedi ymgynnull i glywed y ddedfryd – a fyddant yn cael gwrandawiad teg? Bydd cerrig yn cael eu taflu a gwaed yn cael ei golli ond a fydd unrhyw un yn cael cyfiawnder?
“With the dialogue shifting fluidly between English and untranslated Welsh, tensions between communities and classes were effectively threaded throughout”. (4*, The Guradian)
“Bethan Marlow’s play is not just a living history lesson – she explores the issues in much more depth”. (5*, We are Chester)
“It was a total success. The writer, Bethan Marlow, distilled the tensions and the sequence of events so skilfully that I understood every step of the way.” (Theatre In Wales)
